In Make Magazine Volume 42, the 2015 edition Annual Guide, this printer was ranked 4th in overall print quality when compared to much more expensive printers and was considered to be particularly well performing in surface finish and overhangs. 3D Printing jargon aside, that means that this will produce very high quality prints without much tinkering.
This printer is considered a PLA only printer because it does not have a glass bed and uses a low temperature hot end. However, it is built off of standard open source electronics and software and can be modified easily to add a bed for the technically inclined.
Each printer comes with a 750g spool of Tinkerine premium PLA and a sample pack of colorFabb PLA/PHA.
