Manufactured In-House By Josef Prusa

Prusa Research was not satisfied with the quality of filaments on the market. So they decided to make their own! Prusa Research is the only 3D printer manufacturer with its own filament production.

Premium-Grade Materials And Thorough Testing

The whole manufacturing process is closely monitored and tested – string diameter, color consistency, and mechanical properties – to make sure that every spool is perfect.

± 0.02 mm Manufacturing Guaranteed Precision

Prusa Research believes the industry standard of 0.05 mm isn’t sufficient for perfect 3D printing. Instead, they guarantee ±0.02mm precision and highly-consistent colors in their filaments.

High Quality You Can Check Yourself

Prusa Research is the only manufacturer that gives the option to inspect parameters of every filament spool. Scan a QR code on the spool to see all details online (check the sample spool).

About PC Blend

Prusament PC Blend (PolyCarbonate) is the perfect material for stronger, more durable 3D prints.

Polycarbonates are a group of plastics that are known for their strength, mechanical durability, toughness, and temperature resistance. They are commonly used for the production of CDs, protective goggles, or car headlights.

The composition of pure polycarbonate is a material not suitable for 3D printing. It adheres very poorly to the print sheet, and due to its high thermal expansion, it has a tendency to deform and crack. We have added carefully-picked additives into the mix, improving the adhesion and reducing cracking and warping, while still maintaining the excellent properties of polycarbonate.

Prusament PC Blend is suitable for advanced users. If you are new to 3D printing, we recommend you to stick with easier to print materials such as PLA and PETG. PC Blend is recommended for experienced 3D printer owners looking for tough, durable material for production of prototypes and functional parts, thermally and mechanically stressed components.

Print sheet preparation

Prusament PC Blend can be printed on both smooth and textured print sheets. However, it’s required to spread a separating agent on the sheet before you start printing, otherwise the adhesion of the print may be too strong. The best way to prepare your print sheet is to apply a thin layer of paper glue onto the sheet. Failing to add a separating layer may lead to the damage to your print sheet! While the documentation states that it’s not advised to apply glue onto the powder-coated textured steel sheet, the PC Blend is an exception. Do not use the glue onto the powder-coated textured steel sheet when printing with other materials (PLA, PETG, ASA, Flex, and others)!

After you finish printing and remove the object from the print sheet, use isopropyl alcohol to clean the print sheet thoroughly! Avoid cleaning the textured sheet with water - it may lead to corrosion.

Printing Setup
Nozzle 275±10 °C
Heatbed 110±10 °C
Positive Values Negative Values
+ Styrene free
+ High temperature resistance up to 113°C
+ Good dimensional stability in comparison with other PC filaments
+ High impact and wear resistance
+ Prints don't deform under pressure over time
+ Low warping, layer cracks are very rare
+ Very low moisture absorption

- Large models have a tendency to warp
- Requires high heatbed and nozzle temperatures
- Higher price
- Produces minor odors during printing

Notes

This PC Blend is made in-house by Prusa Research.

1.75 mm filament is manufactured with a precision of ±0.03 mm.

Prusament PC Blend has a new formula since 9. 6. 2021 The material density is now slightly lower than before, resulting in a minimal spool weight of 970 g. The approximate length of the filament is 330 m - the same length as the standard Prusament.

This stuff prints great

Printing this on an enclosed Voron V0.2 and it looks great and has no warping issues. This is a very good option for consumer printers vs a more pure PC.

Great filament!

First time using Prusament PC blend on a MK3s in an enclosure. Once getting the first layer down everything went pretty good as long as you make sure your temperature fluctuations during the night are not excessive. Very strong material and allows for nice layers lines. 92f/33.4c chamber with 275 nozzle and 110 bed default PrusaSkicer PC settings.
